Sayyid Al-Hakeem Discusses Iraqi, Regional Political Scene Developments with Muhsin Al-Mandalwi
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received on Sunday evening, February 1, 2026, in His office in Baghdad, Mr. Muhsin Al-Mandalawi, former First Deputy Speaker, to discuss developments in the political situation in Iraq and the region.
H.E. noted that the current phase calls for strict adherence to constitutional deadlines, especially those related to electing the President of the Republic and forming the government, emphasizing the need to place the public interest above narrow interests and to share the national burden amid the challenges confronting Iraq.
H.E. pointed out that the region is experiencing a serious escalation, expressing hope that dialogue and mutual understanding will prevail to prevent further conflicts, and affirming that Iraq is affected by the consequences of this escalation, despite the security and stability it presently enjoys.
H.E. urged addressing the economic crisis through clear strategic approaches, including rationalizing public spending, safeguarding citizens’ rights, and making full use of the Iraqi state’s resources in a way that supports development and stability.
