Sayyid Al-Hakeem Calls to Leverage Australian Experience to Develop Agricultural Sector

His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met this evening with the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, His Excellency Mr. Glen Miles. The meeting brought together an exchange of views on bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and advance them, alongside a review of the latest developments concerning the political landscape in Iraq and the region.

H.E. affirmed that Iraq has moved past the political deadlock following the election of the three presidencies and the formation of the government, noting that the country faces economic challenges stemming from the repercussions of regional developments, and reiterating the call to end the ongoing conflicts in the region and reach just and satisfactory solutions for all parties.

On the economic front, H.E. stressed the importance of transitioning from a rentier state model toward an economy with diversified sources of revenue, affirming that the agricultural file stands at the forefront of this transition, and calling for drawing on the experiences of advanced nations in this field — particularly Australia — with regard to agricultural development, modern mechanization, irrigation technologies, and water resource utilization.

H.E. also affirmed the importance of completing the ministerial cabinet by appointing competent ministers of integrity and good standing.
