Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Economic Priority Requires Empowering Competencies, Aligning University Outputs With Labor Market

At the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate, Holy Karbala branch, His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, met a group of the governorate’s engineers, congratulating them on the success of holy Karbala governorate in becoming a success story, and commending the role of engineers in building and reconstruction.
H.E. explained that Karbala achieved an important accomplishment despite the scarcity of specializations, which makes the accomplishment great and a source of admiration and praise, again commending the adoption of the pilgrims criterion in allocating the budget to holy Karbala. H.E. explained that the current priority is an economic one, after priorities had been political and security-related, regarding differences of opinion as a source of strength for the country and an embodiment of the democratic system, with the importance of enacting laws that settle differences, explaining that the Prime Minister personally came in harmony with the challenge and the economic priority, stressing attention to the engineers sector and to the resident engineer on projects, and calling for granting engineers a rewarding salary that fortifies them against temptations.
H.E. called for aligning university outputs with the labor market, explaining that this protects graduates, specializations, and the money spent on the individual, whether the money of their family or public money, describing the continuation of this contradiction between the numbers of graduates and the labor market as sheer chaos, and affirming that this covers undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
H.E. explained that the political system is a parliamentary system based on blocs, stressing the need to adopt the principle “accepting a thing means accepting its necessities,” and hence, by virtue of the nature of the system, positions go to the winning or coalescing blocs, stressing the empowerment of competencies in state institutions below the minister level, adopting accumulation in executive performance, and ending the practice of allotting ministries to particular political entities.
H.E. explained that the region is suffering from political deadlock, warning against a renewed rise in the tone of escalation and a return to war, for its impact on the region, the world, and the global economy, stressing the preservation of the achievements in Iraq, and affirming the existence of mediation efforts and an Iraqi role in restoring stability in the region. H.E. stressed the importance of holding fast to the majority that expresses the components and the component-based reality within a national framework that reassures everyone, recalling that Shaheed Al-Mihrab (may his soul be sanctified) was targeted because of national positions and an approach that unites all Iraqis.
