The Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq posted on his facebook page on Saturday 2/1/2016: \"With Great Sadness and Regret We Received the News of the Implementation of the Death Sentence against the Saudi Religious Scholar Nimr Baqir al Nimr\".

He added: \"Such act that did not preserve the Status of Religious Figures in a time where the region is witnessing exceptional circumstances and great challenges, concerns the hearts of Muslims and undermines the security and stability in the Kingdom and the region in general\".

Sayyid al Hakim continues: \" As we condemn this action and consider it a repression for the freedom of speech and expression of opinion and disagrees with the divine and humanitarian norms and values, we recall the position of Imam al Hakim, which exceeded the limits of sectarianism and demanded to cancel the death sentence against Sayyid Qutub and other Muslim figures at that time.
