Sayyid Al-Hakeem: The Current Stability is a Major Achievement We Must Uphold and Develop

Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met with several scholars, sheiks, and dignitaries from the honorable Mirani tribe and Erbil Province at the esteemed guesthouse of Sheikh Farouk Mirani. His Eminence expressed his gratitude for their warm reception and kind sentiments.
H.E. stated, “Our relationship with the Kurdish people is deep-rooted and longstanding, going back to the glorious 1920 Revolution, where Arab and Kurdish blood was united, and extending through our shared struggle against dictatorship and the fight against ISIS terrorism.” H.E. explained that Imam Al-Hakeem (may Allah have mercy on him) and his family paid a heavy price, facing harassment, near-house arrest, and the execution of dozens of scholars and youth from the family as a result of his famous 1965 fatwa prohibiting fighting against the Kurds. This stance and others were taken to uphold justice and protect the Kurdish people and other groups during that challenging time.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem pointed out that Iraq today, by Allah’s grace, is witnessing societal harmony, security stability, and good levels of political understanding. Many issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government have been resolved through dialogue and communication. H.E. expressed hope for further solutions to these issues within the framework of the constitution and applicable laws in the near future, by Allah’s will, calling for preserving this achievement, gratitude for this blessing, and safeguarding freedoms and democracy.
H.E. highlighted that the recent elections in the Kurdistan Region, which saw broad participation, reflected a high level of awareness among the Kurdish people. H.E. called for these efforts to culminate in the swift formation of a government that fulfills the aspirations of our people in Kurdistan, noting that stability in the region or any part of Iraq positively impacts the country’s overall stability. H.E. emphasized that his visit serves as a reminder of this honorable history and these noble positions. Together, with a united hand, they seek to build this nation and realize independence, stability, and prosperity, by Allah’s will.
