Sayyid Al-Hakeem Stresses Iraq’s Economy Diversification, Abandon Rentier State with Japanese Ambassador
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met with the Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, His Excellency Futoshi Matsumoto, as his tenure leading Japan’s mission in Iraq draws to a close. His Eminence conveyed his best wishes for his future endeavors and his successor as Japan’s ambassador in Baghdad. H.E. highlighted the strong ties between Baghdad and Tokyo, encouraging a more prominent role for Japanese companies in Iraq to leverage the country’s promising reconstruction, development, and digital transformation opportunities.
H.E. also supported the Iraqi government’s efforts to automate its sectors and adopt modern technology. Emphasizing the importance of economic diversification, we underscored the need to move beyond a rentier state model by activating the industrial, agricultural, tourism, investment, and technology sectors.
Additionally, H.E. reiterated condemnation of the unjust war against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples. H.E. urged the international community to push for an end to the conflict, provide aid for the displaced, and rebuild affected cities.
