Sayyid Al-Hakeem Stresses Peaceful Coexistence Importance in Iraq, Attends Christmas Mass
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, attended the Christmas Mass held at St. George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad, where His Eminence extended congratulations to Iraqi Christians and all Iraqis on the blessed birth anniversary of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him and our Prophet Mohammed).
In his address during the event, H.E. emphasized that all religions promote the principles of peace and coexistence. H.E. noted that Iraq is a nation rich in diversity, encompassing various faiths, ethnicities, and communities, each serving as a source of inspiration and a unique contribution to the fabric of Iraqi society.
H.E. highlighted that Islam and the Holy Quran extensively discuss Christianity, Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him), and the Virgin Mary (peace be upon her), calling for the reinforcement of values of tolerance and mutual respect among Iraq’s religious and cultural components.
H.E. further remarked that peaceful coexistence has long been a defining feature of Iraq, despite attempts by extremist terrorism to sow discord within society. H.E. stressed the importance of learning from Iraq’s past challenges to appreciate the achievements made thus far.
Concluding his speech, H.E. renewed his call for Iraqi Christians to voluntarily return to their homeland and actively participate in rebuilding Iraq on solid foundations. H.E. affirmed that all citizens share a collective responsibility to contribute to the country’s stability and prosperity.
