Sayyid Al-Hakeem Calls for Regional Dialogue Initiative and Establishing a Joint Counterterrorism Center
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, has proposed launching a comprehensive regional dialogue initiative aimed at fostering enduring pathways for understanding and cooperation among the nations of the region. His Eminence underscored that this proposal stems from a deep belief in dialogue as a fundamental means to achieve peace and stability.
In his speech marking the anniversary of the martyrdom of Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammed Baqir Al-Hakeem (may his soul rest in peace) on Iraqi Martyr's Day, H.E. stated:
"Bridging differences between nations is not merely a solution to current disputes but a foundational step toward building a cohesive regional framework based on shared interests and mutual respect."
H.E. emphasized that the initiative aims to address critical regional concerns through peaceful and diplomatic solutions, steering clear of escalation and tensions. H.E. expressed confidence that comprehensive dialogue could unlock new avenues for cooperation in security, economic development, and knowledge exchange. H.E. called on all relevant parties to join these efforts, placing the well-being of the region’s people above all considerations and laying the groundwork for a new phase of stability and shared prosperity.
Additionally, H.E. advocated for establishing a regional counterterrorism center headquartered in Baghdad. The center would facilitate intelligence sharing and enhance the security capabilities of participating nations. H.E. noted that the center would serve as a platform to coordinate joint efforts among regional security agencies, thereby strengthening regional security. The center would enable participating states to share intelligence on terrorist threats and collaborate on developing preventive strategies to thwart terrorist plots before they are executed.
H.E. also highlighted the center’s role in providing specialized training and capacity-building programs, including measures to combat cybercrimes, which are an escalating threat in the digital era. H.E. remarked that the benefits of this initiative extend beyond security, contributing to a stable environment that attracts investment and bolsters economic development across the region, ultimately improving living standards for its populations.
Concluding his remarks, H.E. affirmed that this initiative would enhance Iraq’s role as a leading hub for regional dialogue and cooperation, reflecting the country’s profound commitment to peace and stability.
