Sayyid Al-Hakeem Honors Calligrapher Yusuf Dhannoun’s Legacy, Emphasizes Role of Culture and Diversity in Iraq’s Development
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, leader of the National State Forces Alliance, visited the center dedicated to the late renowned calligrapher and scholar Yusuf Dhannoun. His Eminence expressed deep admiration for the man H.E. described as a "great national figure" whose cultural and creative influence transcended the span of his life.
In his remarks, Sayyid Al-Hakeem highlighted that societies require more than political, security, or service-based solutions; they also need robust platforms for culture and intellectual expression. H.E. underscored the importance of nurturing talent and using cultural hubs, like the Yusuf Dhannoun Center, to strengthen Iraq’s national identity. The center, H.E. noted, is a vital contribution that fosters cultural enrichment and enhances citizens' sense of belonging.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the need for resilience, faith, and perseverance to confront challenges, citing these values as pivotal in helping Iraq overcome past crises. H.E. commended the determination of Mosul’s citizens to rebuild their city and referenced the remarkable progress in reconstruction efforts following its liberation.
H.E. also called for the preservation and celebration of Iraq’s diverse cultural and ethnic identities, asserting that such diversity should be a source of pride within a unifying national framework. This collective sense of national pride, H.E. said, could also strengthen ties with regional and global communities through Iraq’s tribal and cultural heritage.
In conclusion, Sayyid Al-Hakeem stressed the importance of fostering intellectual discourse to promote diversity and coexistence within Iraqi society. H.E. called for collaboration with similar cultural institutions in Baghdad and southern Iraq to present Iraq as a model of shared prosperity and cultural harmony.
