Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets Nineveh’s Religious Scholars, Stresses Religious Institutions Role to Promote Islam’s True Message, Combat Deviant Practices
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, visited the Iraqi Jurisprudence Council at the shrine of Prophet Seth (peace be upon him) in Nineveh, where His Eminence met with prominent religious scholars. At the start of the meeting, H.E. extended his blessings for the sacred month of Rajab and expressed his joy over the recently agreed ceasefire in Gaza.
During his remarks, Sayyid Al-Hakeem reflected on the nature of conflicts, emphasizing that wars often involve periods of progress and setbacks, as well as shifts in power and influence. H.E. hailed Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza and the return of displaced families to its northern regions as a significant victory for the Palestinian cause. H.E. noted that the events of October 7 shattered Israel’s long-standing narrative of victimhood and undermined its justification for aggression, marking a turning point in the conflict.
H.E. also addressed the impact of terrorism in misrepresenting Islam by distorting its principles and selectively exploiting sacred texts to legitimize violence. Sayyid Al-Hakeem called on religious scholars to actively present the authentic and peaceful message of Islam and to counter these distortions with a renewed and contemporary religious discourse tailored to the challenges of the modern era.
Furthermore, H.E. underscored the critical responsibility of religious institutions in addressing harmful social and cultural deviations. H.E. emphasized the need for modernizing religious dialogue and tools to better address current societal challenges and foster values that strengthen communities.
In conclusion, Sayyid Al-Hakeem highlighted the essential role of religious scholars in advocating for peace, moderation, and coexistence. H.E. urged them to stand against any efforts to misuse Islam for political or extremist purposes, reaffirming the importance of their mission in preserving the faith’s true essence.
