Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets Sadr Al-Yusufiyah Tribal Sheikhs, Says Upcoming Elections Are Decisive Step Toward Lasting Stability
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met this evening with a group of sheikhs and dignitaries from Sadr Al-Yusufiyah, where H.E. praised the resilience of the region, acknowledging the difficult security conditions it has endured and the significant sacrifices its people have made in confronting terrorism, which deserve recognition and appreciation.
H.E. noted that the approach of moderation and centrism, which was once marginalized and discredited, has today become widely understood and embraced by much of the country’s political leadership, reflecting a maturing of Iraq’s overall political awareness.
H.E. emphasized that Iraq has faced grave political and security challenges, marked by periods of tension and exchanges of political rhetoric, yet the wisdom of the Supreme Religious Authority and the resolve of the Iraqi people enabled the nation to overcome these hardships.
H.E. pointed out that Iraq now enjoys a level of political, security, and social stability that has contributed to improved public services, despite ongoing turbulence in the regional environment. H.E. commended Iraq’s balanced engagement with regional issues through political, media, and humanitarian support, while steering clear of regional conflicts.
H.E. stressed that the upcoming elections are decisive, bearing similarities to the 2005 elections that laid the foundation for a new democratic path. H.E. affirmed that this vote will pave the way for a new phase of lasting stability, calling for broad, active, and informed participation and encouraging voters to “choose the right person from the right list.”
H.E. also warned of the influence of political money on voter decisions, urging all to exercise reason and conscience when making electoral choices to safeguard the nation’s and citizens’ best interests.
