Sayyid Al-Hakeem from Najaf: Strengthening Moderation Fortifies Iraq against Extremism

From the holy province of Najaf, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met this Friday morning, October 31, 2025, with a group of sheikhs, dignitaries, and members of the Gurait tribe, as well as elders and notables from the Al-Manathira district. His Eminence congratulated the attendees on the blessed Friday, describing it as the minor Eid for Muslims, and emphasized that awaiting the reappearance of Imam Al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) requires earnest work and proper preparation by spreading justice and pursuing reform through natural means.
His Eminence stated: “Najaf Al-Ashraf is the capital of Imam Al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) — the capital of appearance and transformation — and this necessitates building both Najaf and Iraq as a whole.”
H.E. highlighted that Iraq has endured security, political, and social challenges, yet these hardships created opportunities that strengthened the nation through Allah’s grace, the guidance of the Supreme Religious Authority, the stances of national leaders, and the awareness and noble spirit of Iraq’s authentic tribes.
H.E. underscored the importance of reflecting on Iraq’s progress, asserting that the 2025 elections are pivotal to cementing lasting stability. H.E. noted that the nation’s current security was achieved through the defeat of terrorism and affirmed that Iraq is now one of the most resilient societies against sectarianism and has built strong immunity to extremism.

H.E. further stated: “Iraq has engaged with regional issues without becoming entangled in them,” adding that prioritizing moderate and centrist forces reinforces stability and transforms it into a sustainable reality — a goal that requires thoughtful choices serving the public good.”
H.E. concluded by noting that real development projects will begin on November 11, calling on the winners to maintain open communication with citizens and urging the public to empower figures from within their own communities while focusing and intensifying collective efforts.
