Sayyid Al-Hakeem from Maysan: Iraq Belongs to All Its People, Largest Component Bears Greatest Responsibility

In the province of Maysan, cradle of history and civilization, land of noble Arab tribes, home of talent, diversity, and courage, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, addressed a large central electoral gathering of the alliance’s supporters.
His Eminence affirmed the deep historical bond between his family and the people of beloved Maysan, describing it as “a relationship inherited from our forefathers and passed down to our sons and grandsons.” H.E. recalled the years of struggle and defense of land, honor, and sanctities, noting that today, Iraqis have the privilege of deciding their own destiny and choosing their representatives, a blessing, as H.E. said, “that must not be wasted.” The slogan “Do not waste it” represents both appreciation for past sacrifices and a reminder of the hardships endured, calling for the preservation of Iraq’s achievements.
H.E. stressed that moderation is a strength, not a weakness, and that patriotism stands above all other affiliations. Iraq, H.E. affirmed, belongs to all its people, yet the largest social component carries the greatest share of responsibility and partnership in building the nation.
H.E. emphasized that nations are built upon vision, planning, programs, and the efforts of capable and creative individuals. H.E. referenced the Maysan Rehabilitation Initiative, much of which has been implemented by people from diverse backgrounds, asserting that the true measure is service to Maysan and its people.
H.E. further highlighted the need to advance five key sectors—agriculture, industry, tourism, investment, and technology—calling them the “five pillars of development” applicable to Maysan. H.E. urged the continuation of agricultural activity under all circumstances, negotiations with upstream countries to secure Iraq’s water share, proper irrigation practices, rational water use, investment in groundwater, and seawater desalination as practical solutions to the water crisis. H.E. also underscored the importance of protecting the marshes and ensuring their continuous water supply.
In this context, H.E. called for an end to tribal conflicts, asserting that the safety and lives of Iraqis are a red line that must never be crossed. H.E. also referred to regional developments and Iraq’s prudent handling of them—guided by the wisdom of the supreme religious authority, the insight of national leaders, and the awareness and valor of Iraq’s noble tribes.
H.E. concluded by affirming that empowering moderate forces is the key to Iraq’s progress and stability, stressing the importance of voting for an approach capable of safeguarding the country. H.E. reiterated that the candidates of the National State Powers Alliance are dedicated public servants with long-standing records of commitment and service to the people.
