Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Nouri Al-Maliki, Affirms Coordination Framework Unity, Confront Economic Challenges
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received State of Law Coalition Head, H.E. Nouri Al-Maliki at His office in Baghdad on Sunday evening, January 18, 2026.
The meeting reviewed developments across Iraq’s political landscape and underscored the importance of meeting electoral entitlements in line with constitutionally defined timelines. His Eminence stressed the need to preserve and strengthen the Coordination Framework, describing it as a key pillar of stability in the country.
H.E. noted that the coming phase poses significant economic pressure on Iraq, requiring immediate remedies alongside long-term strategies, and called for diversifying revenue streams to move beyond a one-dimensional rentier state.
H.E. further emphasized safeguarding the achievements realized—by the grace of Allah, the guidance of the Supreme Religious Authority, the sacrifices of the Iraqi people, and the wisdom of political and social leaders—achievements that have underpinned Iraq’s current security, political, and social stability.
H.E. expressed confidence that the economic challenge can be overcome if intentions are sincere, officials embrace shared responsibility, carry the national burden together, and prioritize the public interest over private gains.
