In His Meeting the American Ambassador, Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim Urges the International Coalition to Play a More Active Role in Supporting Iraq in Its War Against Terrorist ISIS

Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, stressed the need for the international coalition to play a more efficient role in supporting Iraq in its war against terrorist ISIS, urging the United States to influence and prompt other states to work hard on drying the sources of the extremist group and provide more support to the Iraqi government especially after it became clear that ISIS is threatening the security and stability of the entire world. His eminence explained that the national initiative for civil peace and state building that the Supreme Council is currently preparing is in fact a summary of a big set of ideas, efforts and political visions presented by the different parties; it is therefore for all Iraqis and for their future and will be the real starting point if considered with a high sense of responsibility.
This came when Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim received at his office in Baghdad His Excellency the US Ambassador, Mr. Stewart Johns on Sunday, 31/5/2015.
For his part, the US Ambassador conveyed his government’s and President Obama’s appreciation of Sayyid Ammar Al Hakim’s initiative for civil peace and state building and of his eminence’s effort to eliminate terrorism. He also reiterated that his country will maintain its support to Iraq and provide full military assistance to the Iraqi security forces in their war on terrorism.
