    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Stresses the Importance of Eliminating Takfiri Ideology that Created Terrorism and ISIS

        Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, reaffirmed that the elimination of terrorism requires the elimination of Takfiri ideology and the centers that disseminate these ideologies and produced the various aspects of terrorism, and last but not least ISIS. In addition, His Eminence reiterated his warning to the world that ISIS is a threat that does not recognize borders, and if it won’t be suppressed and buried in Iraq, the whole world will be forced to confront it in the territories of each state where terrorism will penetrate, citing the recent events of Paris.

    This came during His Eminence meeting with US Vice Foreign Minister, Tony Blinken, on Sunday November 22nd, 2015.

        His Eminence called upon the international coalition to have a greater seriousness in the elimination of ISIS, urging the United States to encourage its allies in the region to observe human rights and give priority to political solutions in their countries. He also stressed the need to support Iraq and its fighters who stand on the front line, and the need to issue a UN resolution that criminalizes the Takfiri ideology and that activates the international resolutions that prevent the sources of funding terrorists. Besides, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim urged the nations of the world to contribute into the reconstruction of the areas liberated from ISIS, reiterating his support for the reform process in Iraq, provided that it is a radical and comprehensive reform and that is compatible with the law and the Constitution.

     The two sides also discussed the political and economic situations in the region and the world, as well as Yemeni and Syrian file.

        For his part, Blinken stressed the importance of eradicating ISIS and that the international coalition is serious in eliminating it, emphasizing that the United States does not intend to have military troops in Iraq, but it can send them to Iraq when needed and upon the request of Iraqi government, and they will leave Iraq when they finish their mission.
