Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim to discuss with Managing Director for Middle East and North Africa at the European External Action Service Mr. Nicholas James Westcott topics related to the security and political situation in Iraq
Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, received in his office in Baghdad Tuesday, 05.17.2016, the Managing Director for Middle East and North Africa at the European External Action Service Mr. Nicholas James Westcott. The European Union delegation, also included in Director Humanitarian and Civil Protection Operations Mr. Jean-Louis De Brouwer, plus the EU Ambassador to Iraq Mr.Patrick Simonnet.
\r\nHis eminence and the delegation discussed security and political situation in Iraq, calling on the EU to support Iraq with means of economic and security to encounter ISIS.
\r\nHis Eminence affirmed to the EU delegation that the Iraqis will overcome their security and political plight, because there are a lot of benevolent efforts that work for the interest of the country, pointing that the demonstrating and expression of opinion is right guaranteed by the Iraqi Constitution.
\r\nIn respect of Iraqi refugees, his Eminence called the European Union to give similar attention and care to Iraqi refugees without discrimination comparing to other non-Iraqi refugees from other countries, indicating that the Iraqis had had enriched the European culture and there are historical evidence for their contribution.
