Political Authority of the National Iraqi Alliance held its regular meeting under the chairmanship of head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim in his eminence Office in Baghdad Sunday 12/02/2017.

The Political Authority of the National Iraqi Alliance examined the most prominent political and military developments in Iraq and the region, attendees discussed the intensified preparations to complete the liberation of the city of Mosul through liberating the right bank of Mosul and to completely liberate Nineveh province through the liberalization of Tall Afar area, stressing the importance of paying attention to the post-military victory phase in terms of facing security challenges that were previously utilized by terrorists through resorting to sleeper cells and the targeting of civilians in crowded places. Attendees discussed results of the National Iraqi Alliance delegation visit of Kurdistan region and the possibility of solving differences through dialogue and resorting to the Constitution and the law.

The upcoming elections was one key subjects of the meeting, the attendees stressed the importance of electoral practice for it is the main basis of the democratic process, stressing the necessity of activating the Expert Committee in the Iraqi House of Representatives and to expedite procedures for selecting the new Commission, and the importance enacting a just law that keeps votes and give attention to the nature of the parliamentary political system, the attendees expressed their regret and sorrow for the events that accompanied the demonstrations on Saturday, 11.02.2017 and prayed for mercy for the souls of victims including the Iraqi security forces and civilians, affirming that demonstrating is a right guaranteed by the constitution and urging demonstrators to maintain order and keep public and private properties and businesses of citizens, and asked the demonstrators to be vigilant and cautious to infiltrators who aim to disrupt the peacefulness of the demonstrations, and to note taking into consideration the challenges faced by the country, the war against terrorist Daesh groups and the engagement of Iraqi security forces and popular mobilization forces to liberate the last inch of soil of our beloved country, the attendees called for expediting the investigation, started by the esteemed government in the events that accompanied the recent demonstration and display the results as soon as possible and to provide health care for people afflicted in these events.

The National Iraqi Alliance delegation visits to central and southern provinces of Iraq were deeply discussed among attendees who confirmed the importance of communicating with the masses of the National Iraqi Alliance in the center and south of Iraq, and to hear people\'s concerns, and inputs from administrative and security leaders, and work to resolve the issues in cooperation with the National Iraqi Alliance’s committees operating in the parliament or in the cabinet using all the available potentials.
