    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim calls for ambitious plans to commensurate with the population growth to end the housing crisis

    Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim called for the preparation of ambitious and realistic plans to commensurate with the growing population of Iraqi society in order to end the housing crisis, noting that the nature of Iraqi society is mainly consisted of youth, according to statistics of the Ministry of Planning and this indicate the increased demand for housing in line with the change of the social situation of the individual and the increased number of marriages resulting in enormous pressure on existing housing units. His eminence stressed the need for coordination with local governments to overcome the crises that might occure on the reality of housing in Iraq.

    This took place during his eminence meeting with Minister of Housing and Construction that Mrs. Ban Nafi al-Awsi at his office in Baghdad Tuesday, 14.02.2017.

    His eminence urged the ministry to find alternative ways to finance lagging projects due to the financial crisis, indicating that engaging private sector with the government is one of the most important solutions to be taken into considerations during the current period, alluding to bear in mind that housing units should be created according to the nature of society and customs of the Arab and Islamic traditions in terms of personal privacy in the residential unit, noting that provincial projects need to be more flexible and manage red tape and administrative complications that are contributing in process\'s obstruction in addition to the financial crisis.

    In respect of the reality of liberated cities, his eminence indicated that due to the current situation of status of the liberated cities the responsibility is doubled on the Ministry of Housing and Construction to remove the remnants of the terrorist Daesh, pointing to the importance of providing basic necessities of life in the liberated cities for the return of the displaced families.
