Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim meets with British Ambassador to discuss developments in the security and political situation in Iraq and the region
Head of the National Iraq Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, in his office in Baghdad, received UK Ambassador to Baghdad Mr. Frank Baker Tuesday, 14.02.2017.
\r\nHis eminence and Baker discussed developments in the political and security situation in Iraq and the region and topics related to the international effort in support of Iraq to complete the liberation of the right bank of the city of Mosul, the last part of the city center that is under Daesh control. His eminence stressed the importance of continuing to support Iraq to get rid of global threat of Daesh, calling for international and regional effort to face Daesh intellectually.
\r\nHis eminence called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in supporting Iraq during the humanitarian crisis and to mitigate the suffering of the displaced families, which coincided with the financial crisis as a result of lowering oil prices, noting that international organizations are requested to assist in the humanitarian crisis in the liberated areas, stressing the need for major powers\' presence at any conference held to support liberated areas and its reconstruction.
\r\nin respect of the Iraqi political reality, his eminence indicated that the national settlement project is receiving more acceptance and response from the Iraqi political circles, affirming it is the only way to save Iraq from its political, security and economic crises.
\r\nThe Ambassador of the United Kingdom reiterated his country\'s support for Iraq in the face of terrorism and support to the political and democratic processes, praising victories achieved by the Iraqis on terrorist Daesh.
