Head of the National Iraqi Alliance, Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi bilateral relations between Iraq and Tunisia, and joint efforts in combating terrorism.\r\n
This took place during his eminence leading the National Iraqi Alliance delegation in a visit to Tunisia Friday 21/4/2017, his eminence conveyed greetings and respect of Iraqi leadership and people to Tunisia, explaining the role played by the National Iraqi Alliance in the political process in Iraq through the government and the Iraqi House of Representatives. His eminence considered the visit to Tunisia an expression of Iraqi desire for openness to Arab world and deepening relations with Arab countries, including Tunisia. The developments of the Iraqi political situation was the most important meeting points with Essebsi, at which his eminence stressed the importance of cooperation in the fight against Daesh terrorism through political, security and intellectual cooperation through Najaf and Zaytouna as they are titles for moderation.\r\n
His eminence informed Essebsi about the national settlement project and the reason of presenting the project for the future phase of Iraq after eliminating the terrorist Daesh, plus discussing the developments in the political situation in some countries of the region and the negative repercussions on countries such as Iraq, Egypt and Tunisia. His eminence praised the Tunisian leadership\'s understanding of the Iraqi situation, the elimination of terrorism and granting visit permits to Iraqis, hoping to continue exchange of delegations to deepen the relations and invest the presence of Iraq and Tunisia in the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations to coordinate positions for the benefit of Iraq and Tunisia.
