Sayyid Al-Hakeem Stresses National Identity, Social Diversity Importance During Visit to Tikrit University
As part of his tour of Salah Al-Din province, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, visited Tikrit University, where he met with the university president, Sayyid Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, in the presence of Salah Al-Din Governor Mr. Badr Mahmoud Al-Fahl.
During the visit, His Eminence praised the university’s resilience and its commitment to continuing education despite the years of terrorism and direct targeting. H.E. commended the institution for swiftly returning to its academic path and overcoming a difficult chapter in its history.
Sayyid Al-Hakeem emphasized the value of embracing social diversity—whether sectarian, ethnic, or religious—considering it a source of cultural enrichment that broadens the societal perspective. H.E. asserted that national identity is best strengthened by recognizing and respecting the distinct identities and characteristics of Iraq’s diverse communities, firmly rejecting any violations against those identities.
Speaking on the role of diversity, H.E. highlighted its potential as a bridge for engagement with regional and global communities. H.E. pointed to the historic visit of the Pope to Iraq as a result of the presence of the Christian community, reflecting Iraq’s deep-rooted respect for its societal mosaic.
H.E. also spoke of the pride Iraqis should feel when one of their own is entrusted with regional or international responsibilities, or achieves global recognition—raising Iraq’s name high. H.E. called for transforming the concept of managing diversity from a slogan into practical policy and reality, stressing the need to highlight success stories and adopt strategies that elevate Iraq’s social fabric. Impact, he noted, must be measured by comparing the present to the past across political, economic, and social domains.
