Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Political Prisoners Foundation Head, Stresses Preserving Legacy, to Harness Their National Potential
Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, The Head of the National State Powers Alliance, received Mr. Walid Al-Sahlani, Head of the Political Prisoners Foundation, to discuss the current status of political prisoners and explore ways to benefit from their experiences and contributions across various national fields.
H.E. emphasized that this group truly embodies the term “living martyrs”, having endured severe sacrifices and immense physical and psychological suffering under the former regime’s prisons, in defense of the Iraqi people’s just causes.
H.E. called for these sacrifices and heroic stories to be documented using all available tools—through art, literature, or inclusion in educational curricula—so future generations may learn from that chapter of history and be protected from its recurrence.
H.E. also highlighted the diversity within this group, which includes doctors, scholars, artists, writers, and academic professionals, and urged the development of a clear action plan to effectively utilize their talents in the service of the state and society.
In conclusion, H.E. called for legal amendments that would guarantee the rights of political prisoners and serve as a sincere acknowledgment of the role they played in defending Iraq’s freedom and dignity.
