Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim Praises the Step Taken by the Three Presidencies to Cut their Salaries by 50% and Calls on the MPs to Follow their Lead

Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, praised the step taken by the presidency of the Republic, the parliament and the council of ministers to cut their salaries by 50%, calling on the MPs to cut theirs by half, considering this as symbolic message for the people that the officials take into consideration the exceptional economic situation Iraq is going through due to the decrease of the oil price, and stressing the importance of decreasing the expenses by the high ranking officials.
This came while his Eminence was participating in procession along with the citizens of al Muthanna towards Karbala on the Arba’een on Thursday, December 4, 2014.
His Eminence underlined the need to fight corruption and corruptors in both the security and the civil institutions, calling for standing up against the corruptors since nothing justifies the corruption and no cover must be provided to them. He also said it is important that the political parties prove their ability to fight terrorism, and that we live today in the ambience of the commemoration of Hussain (AS) who said that “a person like me can never pledge allegiance to a person like him”, adding that the nation that conforms to its roots won’t be broken and will make the achievements it deserves. Here he recalled in Samawah the Great Iraqi Revolution, its men and the eternal positions against the oppressors, underlining the importance of following the path of honesty and righteousness, calling on everyone to be truly Hussainis in complying with its course and conduct because it is the course of the prophet Muhammed (PBUH) and his household (AS).
