Sayyid Ammar al-Hakim, head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, called for quickly passing the budget since this is in the best interests of the citizens, stressing the need to rationalize the budget lines and the importance of keeping intact the salaries of the low income segments such as employees, retired and members of the Social Protection Network.
This came in a meeting held between his Eminence at his office in Baghdad, on Monday, January 19, 2015 and the head of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mr. Ahmed Chalabi, along with members of the committee.
His Eminence also called on the politicians and the decision makers to assume their national responsibilities so as to rise up to the extent of the crisis the country is facing, underlining the need to find the right remedies for the economic and financial situation in the country following the drop of the oil prices at the international level.
