    Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets President Barzani, Describes Elections as Historic Opportunity, Stresses Dialogue to Resolve Baghdad–Kurdistan Issues

    As part of his visit to the Kurdistan Region, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers Alliance, met on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, with H.E. President Masoud Barzani. The meeting discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the nature of the upcoming political entitlements. His Eminence emphasized the importance of maintaining dialogue and communication among political forces to confront challenges and shape the next phase. 
    H.E. highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections, describing them as a key factor in strengthening and advancing stability toward sustainability. H.E. noted that Iraq now stands before a historic opportunity that must be seized and not lost—especially in light of the progress achieved and the volatile regional environment. 
    H.E. renewed the call to resolve outstanding issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government through adherence to the Constitution and existing laws, stressing the importance of mutual concessions in the spirit of national interest and the principle of rights and responsibilities. H.E. also commended the recent oil agreement, describing it as a constructive foundation for addressing all remaining issues related to this file.
