    Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets Nechirvan Barzani, Oil Agreement Seed for Broader Understandings, Elections Turning Point for Iraq’s Future

    At the conclusion of his visit to the Kurdistan Region, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, met on Tuesday evening, October 7, 2025, with His Excellency Mr. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region. 
    The meeting reviewed recent political developments, upcoming elections, and the relationship between the federal government and the region. Both sides shared identical views on the importance of the recent oil agreement, seeing it as a foundation for broader understandings and a solid basis for enacting the Oil and Gas Law.
    His Eminence called for preserving the stability achieved in the country, building on its successes and positive outcomes. H.E. affirmed that the upcoming elections are decisive and pivotal, marking a historic milestone in Iraq’s path. H.E. also stressed the importance of broad, effective, and informed participation, urging voters to choose the most capable candidates from the most qualified lists.
